A catastrophic collapse has the Colorado Avalanche staring into the playoff abyss. Desperate to climb back into the Western Conference Final, Colorado exploded out of the gate in Game 3. Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri struck early, and a Jack Drury shorthanded tally made it 3-0 before the first intermission. But the Golden Knights flipped the script entirely in the middle frame. Mark Stone ignited the comeback with a power-play strike just 19 seconds into the second period. William Karlsson followed up minutes later, and Keegan Kolesar tied the game midway through the period to send the Vegas crowd into a frenzy. Tomas Hertl completed the stunning reversal midway through the third, burying the game-winner off a feed from Stone. Brett Howden sealed the 5-3 victory with under a minute remaining, capping a relentless run of five unanswered goals against a shell-shocked Scott Wedgewood. Following the massive comeback, VGK leads 3-0 in the series. The Avalanche must now figure out how to salvage their 121-point season when they face elimination in Game 4.
