Philadelphia Flyers

The Carolina Hurricanes have pushed Philadelphia to the brink, using a special teams masterclass to secure a 4-1 road victory. CAR leads 3-0 in the series, leaving the Flyers staring down an early summer. Late in the first period, Jordan Staal opened the scoring on the man advantage. Philadelphia found life early in the second when Trevor Zegras beat Frederik Andersen at even strength to tie the game. The defining moment arrived late in the middle frame. With the Flyers on a crucial power play, Jalen Chatfield stunned the home crowd with a backbreaking shorthanded goal at 15:59, assisted by Staal and Jordan Martinook. The Hurricanes never looked back. Early in the third, Andrei Svechnikov converted another power-play opportunity, and Nikolaj Ehlers padded the lead just minutes later. Andersen was rock solid, stopping 18 of 19 shots to quiet the Philadelphia offense. Frustration ultimately boiled over for the home side, culminating in a late ten-minute misconduct for Travis Konecny. Carolina will now bring out the brooms and attempt to complete the sweep in Game 4.
