Series tied 1-1
Vegas Golden Knights
39-26-17
Carolina Hurricanes
53-22-7
Vegas looked to be taking a stranglehold on the Stanley Cup Final, up 2-0 midway through the third period. Then chaos erupted. Brett Howden scored in the first and second periods to give the Golden Knights a comfortable cushion, but Carolina's relentless physical game finally cracked the visitors. Midway through the third, Logan Stankoven broke the shutout. Two minutes later, Mark Jankowski tied the game, and Jordan Staal capped a stunning three-goal surge on the power play at 15:25. Vegas refused to go quietly. With just 1:21 left in regulation, Mark Stone buried a Mitch Marner feed to force sudden death. The tension of playoff overtime was short-lived, however. Just 3:56 into the extra frame, Seth Jarvis sent the home crowd into a frenzy with a power-play strike, beating Carter Hart to complete the 4-3 comeback victory. With the Series tied 1-1, the battle for the Cup now shifts to the Nevada desert for a pivotal Game 3.
