Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights have punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, completing a stunning sweep of the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche with a tight 2-1 victory. Facing elimination, Colorado came out desperate, but Vegas captain Mark Stone set the tone early. Just under five minutes into the opening frame, Stone beat Mackenzie Blackwood to give the home crowd an immediate reason to roar. From there, Carter Hart took over the crease, turning aside chance after chance to finish with an impressive 20 saves. The one-goal tension held until late in the third period when Craig Smith doubled the Vegas lead at 14:15. Gabriel Landeskog finally broke Hart's shutout bid with just over two minutes remaining to give the Avalanche a pulse, but Blackwood's 24 total saves at the other end weren't enough to rescue Colorado's season. VGK wins series 4-0, capping off a dominant run through the Conference Finals. Now, the Golden Knights get some well-deserved rest as they await their opponent for the championship round.
