COL leads 3-1
Colorado Avalanche
55-16-11
Minnesota Wild
46-24-12
The Colorado Avalanche broke open a tense game in the third period to push the Minnesota Wild to the brink of elimination. After Josh Manson took a four-minute double minor for butt-ending midway through the first period, Danila Yurov capitalized on the ensuing power play to give the hometown Wild an early edge. Colorado responded early in the second when Nazem Kadri ripped a power-play marker past Jesper Wallstedt, who was spectacular with 29 saves to keep Minnesota breathing. The final frame turned into an absolute sprint. Ross Colton gave Colorado the lead, only for Nico Sturm to answer back just three minutes later. With the game deadlocked midway through the third, unlikely hero Parker Kelly scored the game-winner at 11:32 off a slick feed from Jack Drury. Nathan MacKinnon and Brock Nelson added late insurance markers in the final minute to seal the 5-2 victory. With the result, COL leads 3-1 in the second-round matchup. The Avalanche will look to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final when the series shifts back to Denver for Game 5.
